* check the eyes, it should be bright and alert without any trace of discharge. dapat hindi sya watery.
* check the vent area or yun anus nya. dapat hindi sya soiled by fecal matter coz thats a sign of diarrhea.
* check the wings, it should not be drooping. it should be held close to the body next to the birds chest.
* feathers SHOULD NOT be ruffled or, like what you said, madungis tingnan at gusot gusot. it should be smooth and held tightly close to the body.
* check the feet, it shoud have two toes pointing back and two toes pointing forward. legs should be straight...dapat hindi sakang o piki ang mga paa ng ibon. yun scales have to be smooth at hindi rough especially for baby birds.
* and please dont be fooled by sellers na magsasabi sa yo na tame yun bird porke hindi kumikilos sa loob ng cage nya pag inilalapit ang kamay mo. there are cases kasi na hindi pala tame yun bird pero hindi na din makaiwas sa kamay mo dahil mahinang-mahina na. in my experience in buying healthy birds, mas impressed pa ako if the bird would initially fly away from me the first time i try to hold it. at least, intact pa ang reflexes nya to fly from what he perceives as danger. even tame birds are initially wary of new people who try to touch them for the first time but will soon trust you.
* please dont buy instinctively. dont buy the first bird that you see. mdami na ngayon ang nakakapag-breed ng blue napes so try to find a reputable breeder. try to look around for the best specimen before you buy. in my case, bumibili ako ng mga baby birds sa breeder mismo pero i dont have the time to personally hand feed them from day one so kinukuha ko sila pag 1 time handfeeding a day na lang. that way, safe na sila kunin at may high survival rate na at the same time hina-hand feed ko pa once a day para mag-rely at mag-bond din sa akin yun bird. it has worked very effectively for me.
* kung bibili ka naman ng weaned bird na or yun kumakain na mag-isa...make sure na kumakain nga. offer it food. make sure din na it eats a variety of food and not just sunflower. most birds out there kasi, sunflower lang or unhealthy foods ang kilala kainin. pwede mo naman sila turuan na kumain ng iba food pag nasa iyo na, kaya lang in my opinion...na-sacrifice na yun dietary needs ng birds early in its life especially during the time it needs maximum nutrition. theres a chance na baka hindi sya as long-lived as those birds who have had a variey of foods in life that gave them a healthy start.

| Hi! New lang po ako dito. Thank you so much for the advice. But I never had parrot before. So this is new to me and I really want to try raising one.
Thank God I found this forum.

and last, dedication, dapat may time kang alagaan yung parrot.. kasi require nila ang oras mo, ako, since nagwowork ako, i usually give my pet 2-4 hours every day para kulitin at pakainin sila...

Please point me in the right direction, sir? Btw, taga-Makati lang ako so travelling to Pampanga or any area won't be a problem.
Thanks in advance, sir! My email add is mobiousky@gmail.com.
